Moving Your Outdoor Belongings

Find out how to move your outdoor furniture, patio tables, umbrellas and other items from one place to another with the help of this guide.

Clean Up Before You Pack Up

Any pieces of furniture you want to leave outside permanently should have a regular cleaning schedule because it will inevitably attract dirt, dust, and other debris. Before moving your outdoor furniture back inside for the winter (or whenever), be sure to wipe down or hose off any collected gunk so it doesn't end up on your other stuff during the move process.Exercise extra care with garbage cans - clean them out completely before bringing them inside alongside your valuable furniture.

Pack It Properly

Before packing your patio furniture, take off all cushions and cushion any sharp edges. If there are removable fragile items, detach them from the frame and wrap each one securely.
In order to avoid losing small tools or other parts, put them in sealed containers or bags that can be attached to larger pieces of furniture.

Clean Up Before You Pack Up

Check For Unwanted Stowaways

While you're in the process of cleaning, check all hidden spots for any crawling critters. Spiders, wasps, and other insects often take shelter in outdoor furniture. Additionally, depending on your location, you may find that snakes, skunks, or raccoons have made homes out of your belongings. Be attentive when packing, but always inspect your belongings for any surprise travelers before leaving for your new home.

Make A Plan For Your Plants

When moving, it is easy for your plants to suffer from abuse. extremely chilly or hot temperatures, drastic changes in water conditions, and a bumpy ride may seriously damage them en route to their new home.
There are a few things you can do to make transplanting your plants easier on them. Covering their branches with paper or plastic sleeves (with slits) will help protect against breaks and loss of foliage. You can also pack them in lined boxes with holes for ventilation. If any of the branches need to be tied down for the trip, make sure you secure them gently in the direction the plant is already growing. And once you arrive at your destination, take off the coverings as soon as possible so they can start adjusting to their new home.

It’s A Family Affair

Before moving, take your children's favorite toys apart and pack them carefully to avoid any surprises or tears on moving day. Make sure to put small parts and screws in sealed containers or bags before attaching them secure these containers to the larger toy components. Don't forget to empty out sand, water, paint from play furniture as well so you can clean them easily at your new place.
