Moving Into A Smaller Space
So often, people think that a bigger house is synonymous with luxury. But smaller homes have their own unique benefits - such as persuading you to declutter and usually requiring less decorating costs.
MEASURE
Before you transport your furniture to your new home, use a floor plan to map out where everything will go. That way, you can be certain that each piece of furniture will fit comfortably in the desired room.
Disassemble
Take the legs off of your furniture - particularly sofas. This not only creates more space but makes it much simpler to move around. Additionally, it lowers the likelihood of accidents involving breakage or wall damage.

First, Go Big
Begin by moving the larger pieces of furniture. They will be most challenging to maneuver, so you'll want to have as much room available as possible. This way you can avoid smaller items and still have enough energy left at the end of your move for lighter furniture and boxes.

Pare Down With Purpose
As you sort through your furniture and belongings, decide which items you want to keep and which ones you want to donate. Just because you are downsizing doesn't mean get rid of everything; think carefully about what duplicates or unused items you can live without. Make sure that the things left fit well within the spatial limitations of your new home.
Get The Family Involved
If you're anxious about giving an item away, see if a family member would like to keep it long-term, or even gift it to someone special. Many younger relatives would love new furniture, while older family members might be thrilled to take on heirlooms and other sentimental items.
