Fake moving companies that contact you out of the blue
Fake moving companies will often contact you unsolicited either by phone or email, promising low rates for your upcoming move. They may even send out a truck to give you an estimate, but once they have your belongings loaded onto the truck, they demand an exorbitant amount of money before they will deliver your belongings to your new home.
Movers who hold your belongings hostage until you pay them more money
Some movers may try to hold your belongings hostage until you pay them more money than originally agreed upon. If this happens, call the police and do not pay the movers any more money.
Unscrupulous movers who offer a low estimate but then increase it once they start packing your belongings.
